Prince William and Kate may have started officially dating in 2003, but the secret relationship did not become public knowledge until 2004. The couple were pictured together for the first time when Kate accompanied William on a family ski trip to Klosters. However, the ousting left the now Duke of Cambridge "furious" at the breach of privacy, according to Rebecca English, the Royal Editor at the Daily Mail.
Ms English said: "In 2004, the relationship really did hit the public eye.
"Unfortunately for them, a paparazzi photographer took pictures of William and Kate clearly very close on the ski lift together.
"A red top tabloid newspaper slashed it all over their front page.
"William was furious, and he was also genuinely worried for Kate and her family about what this would now mean for them."

The royal commentator was speaking about the famous pair on Channel 5's 'William and Kate: Too Good to Be True' documentary.
She also noted that as the relationship was seemingly confirmed, Kate's mother, Carole Middleton, was accused of engineering their meeting.
Ms English told Channel 5: "At the time there were a lot of rumours going around that Carole might have tried to orchestrate the relationship by ensuring her daughter went to St Andrews.
"There was talk of Kate having a poster of William on her wall at her school, Marlborough College."
William joked that it wasn't just one, but about 10.
Kate laughed: "He wishes. No, I had the Levi's guy on my wall, not a picture of William, sorry."
The now Duke had joked again: "It was me in Levi's obviously."
The couple were married at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011.
They now have three children, George, Charlotte and Louis.
