HOLLYWOOD, FLA. (WSVN) - Police have detained three men after a chase in Hollywood.
Officers from Miami-Dade and Broward County started their pursuit of the subjects in the northbound lanes of Interstate 95, at around 4:45 p.m. Tuesday, in Miami-Dade where the black Mercedes was going at a high rate of speed.
Miami-Dade Police said the chase started when they noticed the suspicious vehicle in the northeast part of the county.
After running its plates, they realized it was a stolen car that had been used in a robbery.
Because the initial officers following the car were in unmarked units, they were only able to follow it.
When they reached Broward County, Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies attempted to make the stop, but the car took off in a neighborhood and sped off into the highway.
Eventually, the men got off the exit and ran a red light, almost slamming into two cars.
They stopped at the median on Sheridan Street near 23rd Avenue, where three men jumped out of the car.
Two men dropped to the ground and were apprehended by officers, but one of them took off running.
After a brief search in the residential area of Raliegh Street, the third subject was detained.
Now all three are currently in custody.
