HOLLYWOOD, CA — Santa Ana winds have returned to Los Angeles, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a Wind Advisory for Hollywood. The advisory will last through Friday at 3 p.m. unless extended further.
Wind gusts are expected to reach as high as 40 mph. Signaling a heightened fire risk, a red flag warning was issued for neighboring communities such as Sherman Oaks and North Hollywood, and may be extended into Hollywood as conditions change.
"Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles," NWS said. "Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result."
NWS warns drivers to take extra caution when on the road, and for residents to secure outdoor objects that could be displaced due to strong gusts.
Winds are expected to die down Saturday night through Sunday, but forecasters expect them to pick up again Monday through Tuesday or Wednesday, "with a growing potential for moderate to strong winds and red flag conditions."
It'll be a weekend of hot winter weather, with forecasters expecting Hollywood to hit 90 degrees Friday. Temperatures are expected to reach 87 and 83 on Saturday and Sunday, before cooling off on Monday with a high of 73 degrees.
