HOLLYWOOD, CA — The National Council of Jewish Women is testing a guaranteed income program that will give selected residents in Council District 13 $1,000 every month for a year. Female caregivers in Hollywood, Silver Lake, Atwater Village and neighboring communities are encouraged to apply by the end of February.
Qualified applicants will earn between 50% and 80% of the Area Median Income in Los Angeles, and must work as a paid caregiver or health professional. Applicants must also have lived at their current residence for at least six month with no plans to move in the next year.
Candidates will be selected randomly and notified in March or April. Applications can be filed here.
Guaranteed income pilot programs have become increasingly common in recent years. In October 2020, Compton Mayor Aja Brown launched the Compton Pledge, which will provide 800 low-income residents with monthly payments to help them get by.

Ensuring all people are able to live with dignity is something we should all strive for in America."
