A top New York female FBI special agent has become the toast of Hollywood after retiring from the bureau and setting up her own production company.
Powerhouse Hollywood agency UTA has signed former FBI New York special agent Anne Beagan, who last year became the youngest female agent ever eligible to retire from the FBI after 23 years of service, at age 48.
Beagan moved to Los Angeles and founded Dark Pictures, named after the pictures FBI investigators use as evidence in their cases.
Her company — founded with true crime and “Mindhunter” producer Jennifer Erwin — has a slate of 15 projects in development, including feature films, TV shows and documentaries focused on true crime and big FBI cases. Many of the projects will feature female and minority leads, Deadline first reported.
She also founded her own company, Anne Beagan Productions, in Beverly Hills and is working on a book about her life.
Special Agent Beagan — known as Agent Annie to many of her former colleagues — graduated from the FBI Academy in 1996 and reported to the New York Field Office’s Criminal Division. She investigated white collar crime, crimes against children and violent crime, among other violations.
Following 9/11, Beagan was named FBI New York’s Special Events Coordinator to the Joint Terrorism Task Force, responsible for coordinating FBI logistics and security plans for major NYC sporting, holiday, government and entertainment special events.
She later transitioned to the New York FBI’s Office of Public Affairs as its entertainment industry liaison, and spent more than a decade managing media projects, such as feature films, television series, documentaries and articles featuring the FBI.
She has served as an FBI consultant and advisor to a number of movies, including Martin Scorcese’s “The Wolf of Wall Street” and “The Irishman;” “The Informer” starring Rosamund Pike and TV series “FBI: Most Wanted” and “Inside the FBI: New York.”
UTA also represents stars including Harrison Ford, Anthony Hopkins, Anthony Mackie, Susan Sarandon, Kevin Hart, Taraji P Henson, Jason Sudeikis, Issa Rae, Chelsea Handler, Owen Wilson, Tracee Ellis Ross and Frances McDormand, plus filmmakers Peter Morgan, Cameron Crowe and Wes Anderson, as well as news anchors Dana Bash, Jake Tapper Chuck Todd and Don Lemon.
