Characterizing Hollywood as “a unique and historic neighborhood … filled with small businesses, restaurants and a movie theatre,” Alameda Neighbor Taryn Lange is coordinating an effort to help clean up the Hollywood business district.”There is always an opportunity to support our community, and Hollywood needs our help,” said Lange.
Lange urged volunteers to join the effort for an hour or two on Saturday, July 10, “to pick up trash and other items to help keep Hollywood clean.”
Lange said neighbors will gather at 8:45 a.m. with a check-in at A-Boy Electric and Plumbing, 4010 N.E. Broadway. The cleanup will end around 11:45 a.m.
SOLVE (Stop Oregon Litter and Vandalism) will provide trash grabbers, trash bags, work gloves and high-visability vests. Volunteers are asked to wear a mask, comfortable closed-toed shoes and bring a filled, reusable water bottle. Pants and long sleeves are encouraged and a backpack, with snacks, is suggested.
Volunteers under 13 are welcome if accompanied by an adult. Volunteers 17 and under will be asked to sign a waiver if they are attending without a parent.
