The Cardinals are getting a wide receiver with their first-round pick in the draft, but not because they selected him.
Instead, the Cardinals dealt their spot – No. 23 overall – to the Baltimore Ravens in exchange for 2019 first-round receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown, who starred in college at Oklahoma with new teammate Kyler Murray.
The Cardinals also get a third-round pick from the Ravens, No. 100 overall.
In his season with Murray, Brown had 75 catches for 1,318 yards and 10 touchdowns. He was the 25th pick in the draft in which Murray went No. 1 to the Cardinals.
In three seasons with the Ravens, Brown has 195 catches for 2,361 yards and 21 touchdowns in 46 games. He had 91 catches for 1,008 yards and six touchdowns last season. He joins a wide receiving corps with DeAndre Hopkins, Rondale Moore and A.J. Green, with Zach Ertz at tight end and James Conner at running back.
Brown is entering the final year of his rookie contract, and makes only $2.1 million.
The Cardinals needed speed at wide receiver, and the move certainly figures to make Murray happy. The Cards now have three picks on Friday – one in the second round (55th overall) and two in the third.
