Tour Madonna’s Former Hollywood Trophy Home - Mansion Global

Set behind private gates, a winding drive leads to Castillo del Lago, a 3-acre ridgetop property with panoramic views over the Hollywood sign, Lake Hollywood/the Hollywood Reservoir, downtown Los Angeles and even the ocean.

Now asking $18.9 million, 6342 Mulholland Highway has nine bedrooms, six bathrooms and more than 10,500 square feet of living space.

Dating to 1926, this glamorous property is a hidden oasis to escape the paparazzi and let loose

It also has a claim to pop fame: The Spanish-style, eclectic home once belonged to the Material Girl herself, Madonna.

Built in 1926, the house still boasts some of its original features, including tiled floors and a two-story stenciled wood-beam ceiling.

A library off the drawing room is clad in dark wood. It’s a warm, private place to read next to the fireplace, or to use as a home office.

On the other side of the spectrum is the large, all-white kitchen that was reportedly remodeled by Madonna’s brother. The minimalist-style room features a double farmhouse sink, a large Aga refrigerator and a top–of-the-line stove valued at more than $50,000.

Off the kitchen is an informal dining room with French doors that open to a shaded courtyard.

The formal dining room seats 12 and sets the stage for an elegant evening. It has an intricately painted honeycomb ceiling that dates to the 1920s (but has since been restored), and terracotta flooring that’s original to the home. There are French doors here too that open to the courtyard.

Upstairs an expansive primary bedroom suite features two seating areas and  two bathrooms, one of which is original to the home. That one is Moroccan-inspired, with lots of arched details and beautiful tilework.

That Moroccan theme continues in the media room, where large, colorful, North Africa-style curtains hang from the walls.

At the very top of the property, in the tower, is a room with 360-degree views. The Material Girl used it as a yoga room, but it’s now being used as a bedroom.

The inside of the house is something truly unique, but its grounds are remarkable too. Set across a sprawling three acres, there’s lush landscaping, a classic lap pool, statues, fountains, rose gardens, sculpted hedges and fruit trees. There are also plenty of areas to sit back and relax and take it all in. It’s a truly secluded oasis fit for a true pop princess, or any lucky home buyer looking for something with history and lots of style.
