Firefighters engaged with a two-story building caught on fire in Hollywood discovered the body of a deceased person Thursday evening.
The fire began at about 5:55 p.m. on the 6600 block of West Lexington Avenue in Hollywood.
When Los Angeles Fire Department crews entered the building, they located the body of a deceased person at the scene.
Two other individuals were also being treated for smoke inhalation, but declined transport to a nearby hospital.
At around 7:15 p.m., LAFD crews reported that the fire was knocked down thanks to help from the 78 firefighters on hand.
The cause of the fire was unknown, though crews planned to remain on scene throughout the evening to investigate the cause and handle any remaining hot spots.
