Graydon Carter, the former undisputed king of the Hollywood power-party, returned to the velvet rope at the Cannes Film Festival last week after a six-year absence.
“Like swearing off alcohol after a long night of drinking, I always say ‘never again’,” said Carter, the former editor of Vanity Fair magazine for 25 years. “And yet, here we are.’
It was not an understated comeback. With David Zaslav, chief executive of Warner Brothers Discovery, Carter co-hosted a dinner for 200, including Hollywood A-listers, at the Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, the place to be seen on the French Riviera.
