Agents and PR pros accustomed to spending face time with clients — rather than interacting virtually via FaceTime — are finding creative ways to meet with their VIP colleagues during the coronavirus pandemic.
WME partner Richard Weitz has gained attention over the past few weeks for hosting growing A-list online gatherings with clients such as LL Cool J, Tina Fey, and Rev Run, where performers like John Mayer have exclusively played tunes from their living rooms. On Saturday, Rufus Wainwright, Ziggy Marley and Barry Gibb all played live sets for a group that included former studio boss Stacey Snider.
The Hollywood Reporter said that Weitz’s parties have grown to over 300 guests, including regulars Jeffrey Katzenberg and Hollywood hitmaker David Foster.
Weitz’s family is also raising funds for LA’s Saban Community Clinic.
In other online gatherings, NFL star Todd Gurley posted an Instagram clip of a wine tasting hosted by his power rep Rob Berkowitz. Guests are sent the same bottles, then taste them together, virtually.
Also at the vino gathering was real estate entrepreneur David Adelman.
